Kayuda is an ad-supported public beta and is free of charge. We currently have no plans to start charging for it, although (unlike most webapp companies) we would like to leave beta some day.
We have several tools that are in development and will be released to the public in the upcoming year, all of which are built on the Kayuda engine. We thrive on public comments, both good and bad. If you have a suggestion or idea you'd like to share with us, please email us at info at kayuda dot com
"Wotan" (the Germanic spelling) is another name for the Norse god Odin. Wotan was the chief god of the Norse pantheon and, like most Norse gods, he was a god of many parts. Among his attributes, he was a shapeshifter, the god of wisdom, and the chooser of the victorious in battle. This seemed very apropos, since we try to create tools that are flexible, that help you succeed, and that help you study your information in new ways so as to discover wisdom within it.
Why yes, we did! We are connoisseurs and creators of the latest and greatest, as well as the tried and true. Kayuda is a rich internet application and part of the web 2.0 generation. We use both the dojo tool kit and jemplating system to make javascript a language worth working in. On the server, we use the LAMP stack. Many other technologies are used in our development but we like to leave a little to the imagination.
